Republican Party

Yesterday, House Republicans removed Representative Liz Cheney from her leadership position in the Republican party. Over 100 Republicans threatened to form another political party Tuesday, ahead of the scheduled vote. ‘This is us saying that a group of more than 100 prominent Republicans think that the situation has gotten so dire with the Republican Party that it is now time to seriously consider whether an alternative might be the only option.’ – Miles Taylor (The New York Times).

The beginning of the new party may be today. According to the same Times article, a statement is expected to be released today, Thursday, May 13, about formation of the party. Transiting Sun exactly conjuncts the Republican party’s Uranus today. Party splits are an indication for that aspect. I will try to keep an eye out for future occurrences as the Republican chart shows 2021 to be a tumultuous year.

Time unknown. Chart cast for Noon.

Update – May 13, 2021 12:38 PM

A new party was not started on May 13, 2021. On May 12 or 13, a statement was issued in the form of a website listing principles and signatories – “An Initiative of Stand Up Republic & The Republican Political Alliance for Integrity and Reform (REPAIR).” (link)

“The Republican Political Alliance for Integrity and Reform (REPAIR) is a group of former senior U.S. government officials and conservatives—including from the Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43, and Trump administrations—who are committed to advancing a more hopeful vision of America’s future.

The Alliance brings together thought leaders and stakeholders to focus on a return to principles-based governing in the post-Trump era. REPAIR also cultivates and promotes diverse viewpoints across the conservative spectrum on issues ranging from national security and foreign policy to social unrest and democratic institutions.” link

“Stand Up Republic is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization focused on advocating for government reform. Stand Up Republic mobilizes a national, cross-partisan constituency to defend and strengthen American democracy. Through media and grassroots campaigns, we fight for accountable government, electoral reform, healthy media, and pluralistic society. link
